So you’re about to say goodbye to winter for a few years. You’re moving a lot closer to the equator and according to the weather reports you’ll never need a winter jacket again. Sure you might be coming back to Canada occasionally to visit friends or family, but you can always plan that during the Canadian summers. So it’s shorts, t-shirts, and sandals for you for the next few years.
The thing is, while you should certainly buy more light cotton shirts, you should also remember to pack the scarf, tuque and warm winter boots as well (and don’t forget the jacket too). While you’re all excited about this new warmer climate adventure, you can’t always control when you might have to come back to Canada. It could be a family emergency, or your best friend’s wedding in February, but you’ll be thankful you packed some warm clothes if you have to rush back to a polar vortex. Another important note is that coming back to even slightly cool temperatures (from a Canadian perspective) might be a little more challenging for you if 25 degrees in your new home is when you consider it chilly.
